Grass Roots Aquaponics
We use biologically converted fish waste to provide the essential nutrients for the plants, which in turn clean and filter the water to provide a pristine environment for the fish. A beautiful symbiotic relationship that resolves the two major problems with conventional aquaculture and hydroponics which are fish waste removal and the provision of inorganic nutrients, both expensive.
Our automated systems are almost entirely 'closed loop', meaning that we can control and measure all inputs. We grow in poly-tunnels and are therefore not subject to run-off from nearby fields, or other environmental factors that may compromise the purity of our produce.
WE NEVER USE ARTIFICIAL OR DANGEROUS INPUTS OF ANY KIND. EVER!
Our integrated pest management approach sometimes uses predatory insects and / or a mixture of natural essential oils combined with our own horticultural wetting agent. Once broken down, these components become useful nutrients to the plants.
WE USE LESS THAN 5% OF THE WATER NEEDED FOR CONVENTIONAL FARMING.
